In Episode 2, Cookie and Lucious are at odds, with Cookie now working to launch her own record label. But there are creative differences among those involved, which include Hakeem, Andre and Anika. Hakeem discovers he has an eye from producing and tries to put together a Latina girl group, while making a play for one of its members.
With Cookie taking artists, including Hakeem with her, Lucious tries to seize songs developed under Empire Records from them. Ultimately, Hakeem leaks his own album online prior to launch, and Jamal threatens to sue.
Empire will also be raided by the FBI during the episode, but Lucious has already hired a lawyer. Lucious is also busy recording music while in jail. Though the episode’s synopsis suggests Lucious is still in jail, the episode sneak peek suggests he gets out.
