Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo was killed early Wednesday morning in a crash on I-285 outside Atlanta. He was 40.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the crash occurred around 2:20 AM. Shawty Lo’s white Audi “went over a guardrail, hit two trees and burst into flames.”
Shawty Lo was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers were injured and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It was a single-car accident.
Shawty Lo was best known for his 2007 single “Dey Know” and his hit “Laffy Taffy” with the Atlanta-based rap group D4L. His brother and manager confirmed his death in a statement released on Twitter.
